U Marimuthu is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Historical Studies in DRBCCC Hindu College, Pattabiram, Chennai. He was a programme officer and research assistant at the Institute of Chinese Studies (2016-2017) New Delhi. He obtained his doctorate from Centre for West Asian Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in 2017 for his thesis Armenian Millet System in the Tanzimat Era of the Ottoman Empire, 1839-1923. His areas of interest are history of Islam and the Ottoman Empire, politics of contemporary Turkey and Turkey-Armenian relations. He also worked many minor and major project as research fellow related to Middle and East and India’s maritime policy and prepared Media Watch (August 2012-June 2013) for MEI. He participated and presented seminar papers in various national and international conferences pertaining to contemporary Middle East.
