Chitra N holds Ph. D., from Centre for West Asian Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her study on international migration of Tamil migrants workers to Gulf was the pioneer study focusing on social, economic and cultural aspects of emigration and its impact.  She has analyzed the water policy of Israel for a period of more than 50 years for her M Phil degree. For the Tamil Nadu Migration Survey-2015, she conducted wide-ranging field survey as District Coordinator. She has scored NET-JRF from CSIR-UGC in two subjects including Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences and Geography. She has presented research papers on in national and international Conferences. Her research interests include migration and diaspora studies, development studies, sustainable environment, trafficking and human rights issues in gulf.
