is Professor of Judaic Studies at the University of Cincinnati where he teaches a number of courses on ancient and medieval Jewish history. His books include Jews in Byzantium, 1204-1453 (1985) and The Agony of Greek Jewry during World War-II (1999). He has edited and introduced two Greek Holocaust memoirs and edited and published three other books.
