served as rabbi of the Jewish community of Japan and as director of religious, cultural and educational activities for the Jewish communities of Southeast Asia and the Far East. he authored many articles of the Encyclopedia Judaica on rabbinics and Japan and wrote 28 books in Japanese on Judaica and Japan including The Fugu Plan; The Untold Story of the Japanese and Jews during World War Two. He currently serves as the rabbi of the Cherry Lane Minyan in Great Neck, new york.
