Egyptian authorities will detain former presidential candidate Ahmed Shafik for questioning over an alleged corruption case if he returns from abroad, a judge has said.
Shafik, ousted President Hosni Mubarak's last prime minister, has been placed on a watch list at border points, In a statement Judge Osama el-Saeidy said that Ahmed Shafik, former presidential candidate, would be detained for questioning over an alleged corruption case if he returns from abroad. Shafik, who lost the second round election to Muhammed Morsi in the June election, left for the UAE shortly after the results were announced. Shafik is accused of illegally granting large plots of lands to laa and Gamal Mubarak."
