Citing a military sources, The Jordan Times reported that authorities increasing security in the northern border region in wake of a series of attempts by jihadists to illegally cross into Syria to “wage jihad” against the forces loyal to the Assad regime. According to an unnamed official, “Each week we are detaining more young Jordanians and other Arab nationals trying to infiltrate into Syria.” said the source, who declined to be named. Musa Abdullat — the attorney representing the jihadi salafist movement in Jordan — confirmed that authorities have arrested 13 salafists (all Jordanian citizens) in the border region over the past 10 days.
