A Syrian fighter pilot, named as Col. Hassan Mirei al-Hamadeh, has defected to Jordan and has been granted asylum in Jordan after flying his MiG 21 plane to the King Hussein Air Base in Mafraq, in the north of the country. Syrian government called the pilot a traitor and has asked the Jordanian government for the plane. The pilot had flown fighter from al-Dumair military airport, north-east of Damascus.
