It was announced that the government has started to return national numbers to Jordanians of Palestinian origin whose citizenship has been revoked under the 1988 Disengagement Decision Instructions. According to Ahmad Assaf, the director of the Follow-Up and Inspection Department, the agency concerned with the issue, the Ministry of Interior is looking into 3,400 petitions filed by those who lost citizenship over the past years and has already allowed 192 persons to reacquire their Jordanian nationality.
